Vines, Charcuterie and Local Love

Updated: Jun 17

It's kind of funny how quickly we are willing to jump in the car, drive for hours, only to have a few great cocktails and a delicious app or two before heading back. And, I almost did that very thing last night. A girlfriend and I needed a patio...desperately. You know the feeling. We had stuff to chat about. I suggested a trip to Prince Edward County to a favourited cider slushy establishment but with the time already lost due to our morning errands the day was nearing half over. Instead we stayed 'more local' and drove out to Rolling Grape Vineyard in Baileboro, ON, home to a beautiful winery known to serve fantastically arranged charcuterie and some of the tastiest wood oven pizzas. The view is bar none as you sit in the middle of a vineyard on the family farm. They are the City of Kawartha Lakes first 'grape-to-glass' vineyard experience. Plus, for Father's Day weekend they served up a bacon and jalapeno mac and cheese wood-fired pizza and extended tacos all weekend long! And, it's a place not meant for just the bridal parties or the couples out on a fun first date, it's designed for all ages to come and enjoy. There are games for children to play set against the backdrop of the vineyard, and most would gather in front of the stage where local musicians play. Quite a nice spot for those deserving parents needing a glass or two. Their mission is lovely: "To serve good wine, good food and good times." Mission complete. Thanks for letting me share a bit of your story Rolling Grape!
